There are immense life changes going on for the MKK gang: my wife Erikka & I are expecting a baby girl at the end of March, we'll be moving into our new home, and my culinary partner in crime Louis will be relocating with his wife to Texas to follow their dreams.
We feel blessed to have met so many wonderful people on this journey, to have provided a place for you to create memories, and to have had the chance to build real community together.
I am equally proud of our work: to have created a menu I believed in, to have offered two new items each week (no matter how zany!), and to have always cooked with the principles instilled in me from of my upbringing in Hong Kong -- supporting local farmers and businesses, and cooking in season at the height of freshness.
It has been an honor to show you our whimsical style of food and I hope we were able to highlight that a farm to table Cantonese inspired restaurant can be possible in the Lower Hudson Valley, and beyond!
It is bittersweet to say goodbye. But for me and the gang, it’s time to focus on family and take a hiatus from the pirate life of the kitchen and look towards the big, beautiful, bright future.
Thank you for being part of us: we will deeply miss being part of you.
To quote Anthony Bourdain: “Food is everything we are. It's an extension of nationalist feeling, ethnic feeling, your personal history, your province, your region, your tribe, your grandma. It's inseparable from those from the get-go.”
Come see us one last time (or several times!) for Soy Sauce Chicken, Char Siu Meatballs, Brussels “Bravas,” and all your other favorites!
